Granola

Meeting notes without a bot joining the call — it listens on your device, turns your jottings into full notes, and remembers across meetings.

The short version

Granola takes meeting notes without sending a bot into the call: it captures audio on your device, expands your jottings into full notes, and chats across your history.

Buy it if

Your days are back-to-back client calls, a visible recording bot feels wrong for your work, and you want notes and follow-ups handled for $14 a month.

Skip it if

You need a free notetaker with permanent history, or you want scheduling and planning too — Granola only does the meeting itself.

What Granola does — the jobs it finishes

Workflows are built only from verified capabilities in our listing research — no vendor copy, nothing invented.

Notes without a bot in the room

Starts A Zoom, Meet, Teams or in-person meeting starts

  1. Granola captures audio from your device in the background
  2. You jot as much or as little as you like during the call
  3. Afterwards your jottings are expanded into structured notes with action items

You get Full notes and next steps with no bot participant on the call

Client calls stay human while the admin still gets done

Walking into the meeting already briefed

Starts An external meeting approaches (Business)

  1. Granola syncs with your calendar and detects the meeting
  2. A brief is prepared: who is attending, what you discussed last time, what matters now

You get A pre-meeting brief instead of a scramble through old notes

Continuity with clients stops depending on your memory

Ask your meeting history

Starts You need what was agreed on a past call

  1. Ask Granola Chat a question across your meetings
  2. It answers from your notes and transcripts within your history window

You get An answer drawn from your own meeting record

Past calls become an asset you can query, not an archive you fear

Follow-up sent while it is fresh

Starts A meeting ends on Business

  1. Notes, action items and follow-ups are ready the moment the meeting ends
  2. Follow-up emails are drafted from the notes and can flow to Notion, HubSpot or Zapier

You get A follow-up ready to send and notes filed in your tools

Approval Notes are private by default — you choose what to share and send

The post-meeting hour collapses into minutes

Where it stops

  • Does not schedule meetings, send booking links or plan your day — capture starts from meetings your calendar already holds
  • Free Basic shows only the last 30 days of notes — older notes need a paid plan to view
  • No inbox triage, task reshuffling or daily planning briefs beyond the pre-meeting brief
  • SSO and workspace-wide admin controls are Enterprise-only

What could make the bill jump?

History, not volume: meetings are unlimited on every plan, so the bill jumps only when the free 30-day window stops being enough — then it is a flat $14 per user, with no per-meeting meter above it.

Free tier / trialYes — Basic is free with unlimited meeting notes; the limit is viewable history (last 30 days), not meeting count.

Price record · 2026-11-05: First listing check, 2026-11-05, on granola.ai/pricing. DISCLOSURE (Slang AI pattern): the pricing page's plan cards did not extract as text in this check — the feature comparison table extracted in full (Basic viewable history 30 days vs Unlimited on Business/Enterprise; integrations, MCP and API rows; support Standard vs Dedicated) but no dollar figures rendered as extractable text. The figures published here — Basic $0, Business $14/user/mo billed monthly, Enterprise from $35/user/mo — are corroborated by multiple dated reads of the same official pricing page (reads dated 2026-10-07 and 2026-11-02 in third-party pricing teardowns citing granola.ai/pricing, and Granola's own official startup-pricing page stating the same three tiers). No annual discount is published for Business; annual billing is an Enterprise contract matter in those reads, so this listing publishes monthly figures only.

At a glance — the standard checklist

The same fields on every deep listing in this job, so agents compare field by field. “Not verified” means our research has not confirmed it yet — it never means “doesn't have it.”

Best for

  • Solo founders in back-to-back client calls who dislike recording bots
  • Anyone who wants a searchable memory across their meetings
  • People who jot rough notes and want them finished for them

Not for

  • Anyone who needs permanent free history — Basic shows 30 days
  • Founders who want scheduling, booking links or day planning in the same tool
  • Workflows that require a bot-captured, independently verifiable recording of each call

Our assessment of Granola

Granola's one big idea matters to a solo founder who takes client calls all day: no bot joins your meeting. The desktop and mobile apps capture audio from your own device — Zoom, Meet, Teams, Huddles or in person — while you jot rough notes, and afterwards Granola expands those jottings into structured notes with action items, using the transcript as evidence rather than as the product. It syncs with your calendar, prepares a brief before external meetings from who is attending and what you discussed last time, and its chat can answer across your meeting history, so 'what did we agree with that client in March?' stops being an excavation. The free Basic plan is unusually real: unlimited meeting notes, AI chat, shared folders, custom templates and multi-language support, with one hard catch — you can only view notes from the last 30 days, so your memory has a rolling month-long window. Business at $14 per user a month removes that window with unlimited history and adds the integrations (Notion, HubSpot, Attio, Affinity, Zapier and Slack), MCP and API access, pre-meeting briefs and follow-up emails. Enterprise at $35 adds SSO, SCIM and workspace-wide controls. Granola does not schedule meetings, manage your inbox or plan your day; within the meeting-notes slice of this job, though, the bot-free capture and the 30-day free window make it the easiest notetaker here to live with before paying.

Pros — our take

  • No bot joins your calls — clients see you, not a recording participant
  • Free plan has no meeting cap; the only free limit is the 30-day history window
  • Chat across all your meetings turns past calls into a searchable memory

Cons — our take

  • Free history is a rolling 30 days — the paid plan is really a memory purchase
  • Notes only: no scheduling, booking links, inbox or day planning
  • Dollar pricing did not render as extractable text on the pricing page in this check (see price history disclosure)

Solo Fit stays the public score: the qualitative roll-up of these four published inputs under the How We Rank method. Install-and-go setup and a flat per-user price carry it; the 30-day free window is the single, clearly stated catch.

Three to compare before you decide

Fathom$16/mo · Solo-Ready

The difference: Fathom sends a bot into the call but gives a genuinely free tier with stored recordings; Granola is bot-free on your device, with free history capped at 30 days.

Fireflies$10/mo · Solo-Ready

The difference: Fireflies is the bot-based archive with a broad integration and search story; Granola trades that archive depth for in-the-room discretion and notes built from your own jottings.

Otter.ai$8/mo · Solo-Ready

The difference: Otter is the transcription-first incumbent with live captions and a free tier; Granola is a notepad first — your notes lead, the transcript supports.

Questions buyers ask about Granola

What does Granola cost for one person?

Basic is $0 with unlimited meeting notes and a 30-day viewable history. Business is $14 per user a month billed monthly for unlimited history, integrations, MCP/API, briefs and follow-up emails; Enterprise starts at $35. Checked 2026-11-05 — see the disclosure in the next answer about how the dollar figures were verified.

Where do these prices come from?

Granola's pricing page (checked 2026-11-05) renders its feature comparison in full — 30 days of history on Basic versus unlimited on paid plans — but its plan-card dollar figures did not extract as text in our check. The $0 / $14 / $35 per-user figures are corroborated by multiple dated reads of that same official page (October and November 2026) and by Granola's own official startup-pricing page stating the same three tiers. Verify the card price on the live page before paying.

Does a bot join my meetings?

No. Granola captures audio from your own device in the background — the product site stresses 'humans in the room, not bots' — and works with Zoom, Meet, Teams, Huddles and in-person conversations. The pricing table notes you can let participants know you are using it, and Granola recommends asking permission before transcribing others.

What is the catch on the free plan?

History. Basic takes unlimited notes, but you can only view notes from the last 30 days; older notes require a paid plan to open. For a solo with a rolling month of active clients that may never bite — for anyone building a long client record, Business at $14 is the real price.
