The short version
Monica puts a multi-model assistant in a browser sidebar over any page — summarising, translating, drafting and researching where you already work, for an annual price below most monthly rivals.
Buy it if
You live in the browser, want OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models in one cheap subscription, and are comfortable committing for a year at Pro's $99.
Skip it if
You need monthly billing, team workspaces or office-file grounding — Monica is a personal, browser-first assistant with credit meters, not a workspace platform.
What Monica does — the jobs it finishes
Workflows are built only from verified capabilities in our listing research — no vendor copy, nothing invented.
The page in front of you, summarised in place
Starts A long article, supplier page or document is open in the browser
- You open the Monica sidebar on the page and ask for a summary, explanation or translation
- You keep working in the same tab instead of pasting into a chatbot
You get A summary or rewrite without leaving the page
Reading and drafting help arrives where the work already is
The right model for each question
Starts A quick rewrite needs a basic model; a hard planning question needs an advanced one
- You pick the model family for the job inside one subscription
- Basic queries draw on the large basic allowance; advanced queries on the smaller advanced pool
You get Answers matched to the difficulty of the question
Several model families without several $20 subscriptions
A document interrogated with ChatPDF
Starts A contract, report or manual arrives as a PDF
- You load the PDF and ask the questions that matter
- Premium credits meter the heavier document and research work
You get Answers grounded in the document
Approval Check consequential clauses in the original before acting on them
Long documents stop needing a full read before the first decision
Where it stops
- No month-to-month price is published — paid plans are sold on annual billing
- Advanced-model and premium-credit allowances are separate meters that heavy features draw down
- Personal-use accounts only — account sharing and multi-user use are prohibited by the vendor
- Not a team workspace or an office-suite-grounded assistant
Getting started
Before you start
- A free account and the browser extension are enough to test the sidebar
The ongoing admin
- Watch two meters: advanced-model queries and premium credits reset monthly
- Note the Max sale price has no published end date — check renewal terms at checkout
Step 1Live on the free daily allowance first
Use the free basic-model pool for a week of real browsing work and see how fast 40 uses a day disappears.
Step 2Count your advanced questions
Pro allows 200 advanced queries a month — if your hard questions exceed that weekly, budget on Max instead.
Step 3Commit to the year last
Only take the $99 Pro year once the meters fit; there is no published monthly plan to fall back on.

What could make the bill jump?
The jump is annual and two-metered: Pro's $99 year looks cheap until advanced queries (200/month) or premium credits (1,500/month) run out, and the next rung is Max at $199 on sale — $299 at list — committed for another year.

Price record · 2026-11-08: Checked 2026-11-08 on monica.im/pricing: this run's extraction read the page's FAQ in full — confirming Max (formerly Unlimited) remains in beta testing, that Max and Ultra rules and pricing may be adjusted as OpenAI and Anthropic costs change, personal-use-only accounts, and that free users have a daily usage limit — but the plan-card figures do not extract as text. The figures recorded (Free $0 with 40 basic uses/day; Pro $99/year with 5,000 basic + 200 advanced queries and 1,500 premium credits a month; Max $199/year sale, list $299, unlimited queries and 4,500 credits; Ultra $995/year with 20,000 credits) are corroborated by multiple dated reads of the same official page on 2026-11-05, 2026-11-06 and 2026-11-07. Variant note: paid plans are published on annual billing; the per-month figures are annual equivalents, and no working monthly price is published on the page.

Best for
- Browser-bound founders who want help on the page they are already reading
- Anyone who wants several frontier model families in one low annual subscription
- Solo users whose work is reading, translating, summarising and drafting on the web
Not for
- Anyone who needs month-to-month billing or a team workspace
- Workflows grounded in Office or Google files rather than web pages
- Heavy agent or media users who dislike a second credit meter
Our assessment of Monica
Monica is the assistant for a founder who does not want to change tools at all: it lives in a browser extension and sidebar, so it can summarise, translate, explain, rewrite and draft on whatever page is already open — an inbox, a supplier site, a document, a video. One subscription unlocks a shelf of models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, split honestly on its pricing page into basic models for everyday work and advanced models for harder questions, plus tools for chat with PDFs, image and video generation, deep research and an AI agent. The free plan is a sampler, capped at a small daily pool of basic-model uses with no advanced-model access. Pro, the realistic entry, is sold by the year: it lifts the basic allowance into the thousands per month, adds a few hundred advanced-model queries a month and a monthly pool of premium credits that the heavier features — research, agent runs, media generation — draw on. Max removes the query caps on both model groups in exchange for roughly double the annual price, and Ultra is a power tier with a much larger credit pool. Two pricing habits need stating plainly. First, the paid ladder is effectively annual: the monthly figures you will see quoted are the annual prices divided by twelve, and no working month-to-month price is published on the pricing page. Second, query counts and premium credits are separate meters, so a month heavy on agent or media work can run down credits while ordinary chat still looks unlimited. For a solo founder who lives in the browser and wants several frontier models without several $20 subscriptions, that trade is often worth it; for someone who needs team workspaces, office-suite grounding or predictable monthly billing, a mainstream assistant is the safer buy.
Pros — our take
- Several frontier model families in one subscription that costs less per year than one month of some rivals
- The browser sidebar helps on the page you are already reading — no new workspace to adopt
- Pro at $99/year is one of the cheapest full-featured entries in this job
Cons — our take
- Annual commitment only — no published monthly billing to test cheaply
- Two meters (advanced queries and premium credits) make heavy months hard to predict
- Personal-use only, and Max is still described by the vendor as in beta testing

Solo Fit stays the public score: the qualitative roll-up of these four published inputs under the How We Rank method. A five-minute browser install and a very low annual entry carry it; annual-only billing and the dual query/credit meters are recorded honestly in the verdict.
Three to compare before you decide
The difference: Another multi-model subscription, at $19.99/month on a points meter with monthly billing — the catch is heavy models burn points fast where Monica meters queries and credits.
The difference: A single-vendor assistant with custom GPTs, scheduled tasks and Codex at $20/month — the catch is one model family and a monthly price roughly 2.4x Monica Pro's annual equivalent.
The difference: A research-first answer engine with citations at $17-$20/month — the catch is it is built for search answers, not a sidebar that drafts and translates on any page.
Questions buyers ask about Monica
What does Monica cost for one person?
Free is $0 with a daily basic-model limit. Pro is $99/year (about $8.30/month) and is the realistic solo plan; Max is $199/year on sale (list $299/year) and Ultra is $995/year. The directory's True Solo Cost is $8.30 low and $8.30 typical, both on Pro billed annually.
Can I pay monthly?
No monthly price is published on Monica's pricing page — paid plans are sold on annual billing, and the per-month figures quoted for Monica are the annual prices divided by twelve. Budget on the annual commitment, not a monthly trial.
What is the difference between queries and premium credits?
They are separate meters. Pro includes 5,000 basic-model and 200 advanced-model queries a month, plus 1,500 premium credits that heavier features such as research, agent runs and media generation draw on — so a heavy feature month can run down credits while ordinary chat remains available.
Is Max a finished product?
The vendor's own pricing FAQ says the Max plan (formerly Unlimited) remains in beta testing, with all previous benefits retained, and that Max and Ultra rules and pricing may be adjusted as model-provider costs change. That is stated here so buyers weigh it before choosing Max over Pro.
